Behind the Scenes of the Presentation Guild Brand Update

In case you missed it, along with the launch of our new website, we also revamped our logo! We are excited to share a behind-the-scenes peek at the evolution of and inspiration behind the Presentation Guild brand.

Nine years ago (10-year anniversary is coming up!), a group of smart and talented people got together to lay the foundation of the Presentation Guild with Echo Swinford, Microsoft MVP and Presentation Expert at Echosvoice as our Founder and first President. You can find a list of our founders and previous board members here. Sandy Johnson, Microsoft MVP and the host of the Presentation Podcast, created the first logo for the Presentation Guild with its interlaced letters, corner brackets, and neutral colors.

In 2021, Julie Terberg, a fellow Microsoft MVP and the Principal of Terberg Design, began a brand refresh. The Guild’s color palette was updated to the beautiful, rich color palette we use today. Fun fact: Julie is also the host of the Inspired by Design series, which will get a new and shiny home in the Learning Library on the new site – stay tuned!

As we prepared for the new website, which has been a year in the making, Jody Wissing (presentation strategist at JodyWissing.com), current board director and website design lead, drew inspiration from the original logo. She rebuilt and refreshed it to use our brand fonts (the beautiful Muli font family) and created a versatile logo with a modern and clean look that works well across different platforms and sizes.

The new logo emphasizes "Presentations" over Guild and re-uses our very familiar brackets which have been with us from the start. The brackets were adjusted to form a square frame, symbolizing our out-of-the-box thinking and the different sizes representing our diverse and inclusive organization with members from various corners of the presentation industry. We now have a logo mark, a stacked version, and the default horizontal version.

We hope you will appreciate this new logo as much as we do. A huge shout out to all our amazing Board members who have been evolving this brand over the years – all done on a volunteer basis!

Thank you Sandy, Julie and Jody for your beautiful work on the Presentation Guild Brand
